Eruption in the Landscape Blanket
A volcano between the two big glaciers in the south of Iceland, Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull, woke up on the 19th. of March after 200 years of sleep. The erupting volcano is located in the middle of the Landscape blanket and is very close to Vík, the village where Vík Prjónsdóttir is produced. It has affected the whole village and for a time forced the people of Vík to stay indoors.
Second eruption started on 14th. of April and it has closed majority of Europe’s airspace and affected a large part of international flights around the world for five consecutive days.
In Birkiland’s manifesto says “We believe in the intense power of nature” and the events of the past days shows us we should never underestimate her nature.
